Holy angels are beings created by God, and as such are not to be worshipped. While angels are of a higher order of creation than humans, their purpose is to serve and worship God (Luke 2:9-14; Hebrews 1:6-7,14; 2:6-7; Revelation 5:11-14, 19:10, 22:9).
Satan is a fallen angel that God created, and is the author of sin. He rebelled against his Creator, leading to God’s judgment on him (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19). As a result of his rebellion, he convinced numerous angels to join him in his fall (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 12:1-14). Furthermore, he introduced sin into the human race by tempting Eve (Genesis 3:1-15).
Satan is a known adversary of God and humanity (Isaiah 14:13-14; Matthew 4:1-11; Revelation 12:9-10). He is recognized as the ruler of this world. However, he has been defeated through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection (Romans 16:20). Satan will receive eternal punishment in the lake of fire (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10).
