God the Son

The Lord Jesus Christ is the second Person of the Trinity and has the eternal and co-equal nature of the Trinity. He is of the same substance and essence as the Father, and is the agent of creation (John 1:1-18, 10:30, 14:9; Colossians 1:16).

Jesus the Son came down from Heaven to save sinners. He was born of a virgin, and became fully human while retaining His divine nature, being the union of divinity and humanity (Matthew 1:23-25; Luke 1:26-35; Philippians 2:5-8; Colossians 2:9).

Jesus faced temptations just like us, but remained holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners throughout His life. He has become higher than the heavens (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26-27).

Jesus died on the cross as the ultimate and final sacrifice for sins (Matthew 26:27-28; Ephesians 5:2; Hebrews 9:22-28, 10:12).  As a result of this redemptive act, believers are released from the curse of the law and welcomed into the family of God, being justified by faith and receiving the gift of peace in their reconciliation with God the Father (Romans  5:1-9, 8:15; Galatians 3:13).

God the Father raised Jesus from the dead on the third day. Jesus’ resurrection confirms His divine nature and that the Father accepted Jesus’ death as an atoning sacrifice (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:6; Acts 3:15, 4:10, 13:30; Romans 1:4, 4:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Jesus appeared on the earth for a period of forty days following His resurrection, during which time He was seen by the apostles and more than five hundred eye-witnesses, all at the same time (Luke 24:36-43; John 20:19-23; Acts 1:3-5;   1 Corinthians 15:4-6).

Jesus bodily ascended into Heaven and is currently reigning with the Father, serving as the priest and mediator for all believers (Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:6-11; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:15, 5:5).
