Seeking Youth Pastor / Leader In Alaska

Are you an outgoing, adventurous person who loves working with teens?  Do you desire to love and serve Christ, His Body, and the lost in your community?  Do you have a passion for teaching young people the truth of God’s Word? Do you have a heart for discipleship?  Our goals are to exalt Jesus, teach the Bible and to love others.  We are a conservative, evangelical, Bible-teaching church of around 300 people.  Missions are the heartbeat of our church.  We enjoy reaching out and impacting our local community as well as rural communities throughout Alaska.

A growing, dynamic church in Southcentral Alaska is seeking a passionate pastor to embrace the unique adventure of leading our youth ministry team in one of the world’s most exciting places to grow physically and spiritually.  We are located one hour’s drive north of Anchorage in Big Lake, Alaska.  God’s job description for spiritual leaders is found in 2 Timothy 4:2, “Preach the Word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.”  We also believe, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17).  We believe God is calling a very special leader to share his life and God’s love with our youth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Born again believer, grounded in scriptures
  • Passionate love for Christ, for His Body, for the lost, spiritually mature, and living a lifestyle that exhibits the fruit of the Spirit.
  • Favorable Background check (We will request and pay for the background check)
  • One year of Bible training at a reputable Bible school or equivalent ministry experience.
  • Agree with the Faith Bible Fellowship Church “What We Believe” statements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead junior and senior high youth meetings and activities. This involves our Wednesday evening youth group and other planned youth gatherings (camping trips, bowling party, etc.) Embrace the unique adventure of joining our youth in one of the world’s most exciting places to grow physically and spiritually. Duties will involve teaching, organizing, discipling, counseling and general oversight. Facilitate a team of leaders encouraged to develop their gifts through service.
  • Actively communicate with fellow youth leaders so they are equipped to assist with the youth pastor’s mission. This includes discipleship of the young adult leaders.
  • Establish & encourage follow up contact with our youth group attendees through simple phone calls, visitation, and counseling when necessary. Participate in church and community activities (high school sports, outdoor events, etc.). Work with young people and others to cultivate relationships while creating an opportunity for youth to connect through the youth pastor’s outreach and involvement in order to share the gospel and share God’s love with them.
               
  • Assist in planning and participate in team mission trips in various communities throughout rural Alaska, primarily in the summer months.  Embrace the unique opportunities for youth ministry and growth provided by Alaska’s diverse culture and setting.
  • Assist and support our children’s ministries team in community outreach activities such as Vacation Bible School, Harvest Festival, and New Year’s Eve Party. Help facilitate youth involvement in outreach ministries.
  • Teach youth or adult Sunday school classes as agreed upon with the senior pastor.
               
  • Fill the pulpit occasionally in the pastor’s absence or when agreed upon.
               
  • Attend monthly board meetings to share vision, goals, challenges, and verbal report/update with the elders.
               
  • Communicate with Elder Board concerning needs involved in youth group activities (financial, spiritual, church van use, fundraisers, etc.).
  • Coordinate to ensure that the church campus buildings are secured nightly.
