Faith Bible Fellowship Youth Group ministry-THRIVE– in Big Lake Alaska (AK) focuses on teaching the word of God in an environment that is safe, welcoming, fun and glorifying to God. Weekly events are held on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Beyond Wednesday nights, our youth group leaders schedule lots of youth involved missions trips, events and community activities throughout the year.
What to expect
If you arrive early, no problem, Assemble outside by the basketball court or inside. Please be respectful of others social distancing desires.
The evening starts off with group games that seek to get youth involved and having fun. These games currently are geared with social distancing in mind. Ultimate Frisbee and Dodgeball are the groups current favorites, but kickball, meteor ball, volleyball and even time to fellowship at the picnic tables are frequent as well.
Worship and Praise
We begin with a time of worship praising God through singing. Pastor Joel is excited to disciple our Thrive youth group worship team. If you are interested in participating in this exciting ministry, please let Sam Henderson or your small group leader know and we will get you plugged in.
This is time is where a Bible lesson focusing on growing youth (and leaders & parents) in their knowledge and understanding of God. Bible lessons are primarily expository or topical with an emphasis on application in our daily lives.
Small Groups & End of Evening fellowship
After the lesson the youth break into small groups by gender & age where we have an opportunity to dig deeper into what was taught in the lesson, ask questions and develop an even better understanding of scripture. This special time is where the youth have time with older mentors to get personal and discuss issues with others that may be having similar issues. This time is the most cherished by our youth & leaders.
Youth Group Special Events
Our youth group is engaged throughout the year with a host of engaging group activities to include hiking trips, movie/game nights, bowling, canoe trips, shooting events, overnight & weekend retreats and many others that get the youth involved and grow in their faith together, as friends in Christ.
Below you will find a NEW Annual Permission slip for our youth to get completed by a parent/guardian that will be effective for the entire year for all Thrive events – on site, overnighters and day trips. This permission form now also includes a waiver allowing publishing of photos on our social media sites in these Thrive events.
