Scripture

The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are God-breathed, and the Holy Spirit directed men to write all of the Bible’s contents (Acts 1:16; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).

The Scriptures, which include historical accounts, doctrine, and prophecy, were inspired by God and are without error in their original manuscripts. This conviction is supported by Biblical passages (Psalms 119:160; Proverbs 30:5; John 17:17; James 1:25).

The central focus of all sixty-six books of the Bible is the Person and work of Jesus Christ in His first and second comings. Therefore, a proper interpretation of both the Old and New Testaments must lead to understanding Christ (Luke 24:44; John 5:39,46).

The Holy Scriptures are adequate for achieving knowledge of salvation, for developing faith, and for guiding practice. They are the ultimate authority in all theological matters within the Church (Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

The initial chapters of Genesis present the creation account in six literal days, with which God establishes the blueprint for humanity’s work and rest (Genesis 1:31, Exodus 31:17).
